The role of the agricultural and fishing fairs in our country, as a meeting point between the rural and city worlds, which is at the same time a unique chance to see the best of our food markets, is becoming more and more important day by day and are obtaining a greater social recognition. A recognition which is reflected in the increase of people who attend these fairs and events, the greater media coverage they get and above all from the prizes they are given such as those awarded by the Kalitatea Foundation at the fairs of Gernika, Ordizia and Tolosa for their work in the promotion of the produce of the local farmers. An award which was shared by the Basque woman farmer in recognition to their work maintaining the quality of our products, “alma mater” and real heroine of our fairs.
