The Basque food is very well known for its simplicity and diversity. It is a craftsmanship cooking, in which the ocean provides a lot of the main ingredients for the exquisite dishes. The fish is the main produce, but also the tasty red meat, like the T-bone steak, the sirloin or the lamb. The cheese and other dairy products are also very typical of the traditional Basque cooking. |

The “pintxos” are authentic miniature cooking works of art. In various towns in the Basque Country there are areas and bars which specialize in the making of gastronomic delights. These are usually accompanied with small glasses of wine, cider or beer(“zutiros”), a practice called “poteo”, where you stand with your friends chatting and constantly changing from one bar to the next. |
